UPDATE (4:30 p.m. CST): Forsberg has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury with no timetable for his return, per Jim Diamond.
Filip Forsberg left the ice with 8:40 remaining in Friday night’s loss to the Wild after taking just four shifts in the third period and did not return. Adam Vingan of The Tennesseean has reported Saturday afternoon that Nashville has placed the Swedish forward on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. The Predators made the news official at 4:00 p.m. CST.
With being placed on injured reserve, Forsberg will miss at least the next three games.
Forward Frederick Gaudreau was recalled from AHL Milwaukee earlier on Saturday prior to this announcement.
Predators head coach Peter Laviolette is set to address the media at 4:30 p.m. CST this afternoon where it is expected that he will give more details about the situation.
The Predators haven’t played a game without Forsberg in the lineup since April of 2014. Forsberg leads the Preds in scoring with 34 points (15G, 19A). The news of Forsberg to the injured reserve comes just days before defenseman Ryan Ellis is expected to be activated from the injured reserve to begin 2018.
