Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel probably isn’t viewed by most folks as a “coaching genius”.
That’s not because he hasn’t done well with the Titans — it’s because of the vibe he gives off from time to time.
Vrabel changed the NFL podcast world forever when he told Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan on Bussin with the Boys earlier this year that he’d cut his d*** off to win a Super Bowl.
You can see how there’s a “dumb jock” vibe associated with Vrabel.
But that’s just one side of Vrabel. On the field, he’s a coaching savant. And he proved it on Sunday in the Titans’ 42-36 win against the Houston Texans.
Here’s a great breakdown of how Vrabel saved the Titans precious clock time.
as usual, the announcers didn’t really understand the reason for this penalty and didn’t recognize the clock was stopped at 3:05 prior to the next play… but it was brilliant

hilariously, the color commentator in BOTH of these games was Rich Gannon
He ridiculed Vrabel in 2018. didn’t learn, ridiculed again in 2020:
In 2018: “that’s the mental error (of Vrabel) having too many men on the field”
in 2020: “that’s an unforced error, a big mistake”

Apparently the dumb jock is announcer Rich Gannon (a former NFL quarterback), who has twice not been able to recognize the coaching greatness in front of him.
