Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies saw their season come to an end on Saturday after a 126-122 loss to the Portland Trailblazers.

But even though Morant’s season is over, it’s clear that the South Carolina native, who should easily win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, is going to be a star for years to come.

Morant made plenty of new fans in 2019-20 and that includes former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who tweeted some encouraging words to Morant on Saturday evening.

Morant, who revealed he played the final four games in the NBA bubble with a fractured thumb, scored a career-high 35 points in the Grizzlies’ loss to Portland on Saturday.

The fact Memphis was even in a position to reach the playoffs was stunning. ESPN mentioned on Saturday that BetOnline set the Grizzlies’ win total at 26.5 entering the season.

Memphis ended up winning 34 wins in 73 games (before the pandemic shortened the regular season), far surpassing their expected win total.

The Grizzlies have a legit superstar in Morant. He’s going to be a lot of fun to watch in the coming years.

I imagine Bryant won’t be the only NFL player jumping on the Ja bandwagon.
