The Florida-LSU game was postponed in Gainesville this weekend due to Hurricane Matthew. Criticism of the Gators for possibly ‘dodging’ the LSU game, because of a injuries, rose to the forefront.
One less potential SEC loss would mean the Gators could sneak past Tennessee to win the SEC East.
LSU entered the Florida game as a road 2.5 point favorite. Florida QB Luke Del Rio was expected to miss his third straight game. Also, three other injuries on defense would have been concerning against a very good LSU run game. LSU RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) had been ruled out, however, his back up Derrius Guice has averaged over eight yards a carry in Fournette’s absence.
Monday, Florida head coach Jim McElwain addressed the criticism at his weekly press conference.

It’s hard to not criticize the way the Gators handled the situation. Georgia and South Carolina moved its game to Sunday afternoon and played in sunny South Carolina weather. Disney World in Orlando reopened its doors on Saturday morning after closing its parks on Thursday and Friday.
Florida, also, looks bad because of the way the weather played out. I don’t blame them for not playing Saturday. It’s hard to know exactly what that hurricane could do. But, Sunday or even Monday seemed to be perfect options.
