Five-star athlete Quavaris Crouch is not only one of the Tennessee Vols’ top 2019 recruiting targets, he’s one of the nation’s top overall recruits (he’s rated as the No. 11 player in the country in 247Sports’ composite rankings).
That means the Vols will be battling programs like Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State and Stanford for Crouch’s commitment.
Tennessee fans have to be feeling pretty good after seeing Crouch rocking some Vol shorts in a short clip he posted to Twitter.

Obviously this in no way means the Vols lead for Crouch. And it might seem like an insignificant detail, but it’s not.
First off, this doesn’t happen without Jeremy Pruitt at the helm. The nation’s top recruit wouldn’t be giving Tennessee the time of day if Dave Doeren, or some other lackluster choice, was the Vols’ head coach.
Think about it — Tennessee is coming off a 4-8 season. They have no business even being in the conversation for Crouch, but that’s the kind of reputation Pruitt and his staff brings to Knoxville.
There’s another added benefit to Crouch’s apparel choice as well. Other top recruits take notice of small details like this. Trust me, all the top recruits are well aware of Crouch. And they’re likely keeping a close eye on his recruitment. If he’s giving the Vols a serious look, it will probably cause other recruits to strongly consider Tennessee as well.
All it takes is landing a player like Crouch to make a program the “it school” of the moment, which ends up creating a domino effect in recruiting.
Crouch, who visited Tennessee in late March, is expected to visit Knoxville again in the near future.
Tennessee saw the nation’s No. 1 (OLB/RB Quavaris Crouch) and No. 2 (OT Darnell Wright) prospects Monday. Both 5-stars plan to make a return visit to Rocky Top soon, too.
