Greg Schiano was introduced as Rutgers’ new football coach on Wednesday and unsurprisingly the Tennessee Vols came up.
Two years ago, Schiano agreed to become the Vols’ head coach, but a fan revolt kept the hiring from becoming a reality.
When Schiano was asked about Tennessee on Wednesday, his response was a direct shot at Vols fans and residents of Tennessee.
Greg Schiano, asked about the difference between fans reception in Tennessee and Rutgers, said New Jersey has sharper people. “They just get it.” #rfootball

Schiano has remained remarkably silent on his view of what happened at Tennessee in late 2017. I figured he’d have a lot more to say on the subject. Instead, he chose to throw a jab at the Vol fan base.
For what it’s worth, the Vols made the right decision. Schiano wouldn’t have been a good fit at Tennessee. He’s essentially Butch Jones on steroids.

Who knows what the Jeremy Pruitt era will ultimately hold at Tennessee, but there’s no doubt he’s a better fit in Knoxville than Schiano would’ve ever been.
