If the Tennessee Vols are going to return to national prominence, the Memphis area will have to be a city they dominate when it comes to recruiting.
One of the 2020 recruits from Memphis the Vols are heavily pursuing is four-star offensive lineman Chris Morris.
Morris, 6-foot-3/300 lbs, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 4 offensive guard in the nation.
In addition to his offer from UT, Morris also holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and South Carolina, among many others.
The Memphis native took an unofficial visit to Tennessee this past weekend. Morris told VolQuest after the visit that UT is “pretty high” on his list. He also mentioned what could be the determining factor in his decision, saying “Family, football and connections, having relationships for life after football is important”.
If lifetime connections end up being the driving factor in Morris’ commitment, then Tennessee should be in pretty good shape.
There aren’t many programs that take care of alumni like Tennessee. And it’s not just the university, it’s the other former players/graduates that look out for each other. Former Vols take care of former Vols. It’s that simple.
Morris doesn’t currently have a timetable for his decision, but it sounds like Tennessee is in pretty good shape for the highly touted offensive lineman.
