Filip Forsberg has been suspended for three games.
During the second period of Predators 5-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday night, Filip Forsberg delivered a “late, high hit” on New York forward Jimmy Vesey. Forsberg had a phone hearing on Sunday and the NHL Department of Player Safety ruled his suspension of three games.
The video below shows the hit and explains the reasoning behind the suspension. The NHL describes the hit as a high, forceful hit with “substantial head contact”:
This is Forsberg’s first incident with the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Forsberg just recently returned to action following a stint on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury. He sits second on the team in points with 38 on the year.
The Predators begin a four-game road trip Monday night as they take on the Islanders in New York.
