According to several reports, Filip Forsberg has been activated off of injured reserve. Assuming this is true, he could be slated to return tonight as the Nashville Predators take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The news came down ealier today, after much speculation that he would eventually return to action on this road trip. Forsberg has missed the last 17 games with a hand injury.

It would appear that Forsberg is ready to play tonight. Before being placed on IR, Forsberg collected 22 points in 26 games. His 14 goals led the team up until last Saturday when Craig Smith finally scored his 14th.

Great news at the perfect time

Adding Forsberg to this roster at this point in the season is great news. He is already the most irreplaceable Predators’ forward and adding his scoring ability to a team that has struggled to consistently score goals will only help.

I would imagine he plays on the top line with Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson, reuniting the JOFA line once more. Though Ryan Hartman and Calle Jarnkrok played admirably in Forsberg’s absence, there’s no question that Forsberg belongs back on the top line with Johansen and Arvidsson.

To make room for the move, Miikka Salomaki was placed on injured reserve. He was injured in the Detroit game after taking a hard hit on the boards.

The Nashville Predators take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at 6 p.m. tonight.
