“If at first you don’t succeed, you can dust it off and try again.”

Derek Barnett lived those words from the amazing Aaliyah. Tennessee’s All-American defensive end lived in the Nebraska backfield all game long. But, he was looking to get that last sack that would give him the school record over the legend, Reggie White.

An incredibly dominating performance by Barnett only ended in one sack, but it counted. His teammates glowed when talking about Barnett after the game and how they witnessed the record going down.

Barnett needed some help to get the record. Tennessee had the game in control, and Nebraska was facing a fourth-and-ten situation. Ryker Fyfe’s pass fell incomplete, but a pass interference call extended the drive. Five plays later, Barnett got home.

The Vols won their third straight bowl game by beating Nebraska 38-24 in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
