Four-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris committed to the Tennessee Vols on Tuesday afternoon, but he had been silently committed to UT for “months”.
Still, a bizarre circumstance might have prevented Morris from flipping to the Auburn Tigers before his official commitment announcement.
Morris, who visited Tennessee for the annual Orange and White game on April 21, was set to visit Auburn this past weekend.
But that visit never happened.
Morris ended up staying home this past weekend because his mom and sister had previously scheduled hair appointments. As Morris told 247Sports, “She already had a hair appointment. My mom and sister had a hair appointment, so I couldn’t do nothing about that”.
It seems like Morris was pretty solid to Tennessee either way, but we’ve seen the Vols get burned by late visits to other schools in the past.
So perhaps the UT coaching staff should be thankful for a hair appointment that absolutely couldn’t be changed.
By the way, Morris also told 247Sports that Tennessee’s coaching staff is a “dream team”, saying offensive coordinator Tyson Helton “knows what he’s doing with the offense”.
Morris also said “I feel like Tennessee is going to go back to its old ways of winning national championships”.
Landing an elite player like Morris will certainly help them achieve that goal.
