There was a lot that went on in game one of the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers series. The Utah Jazz started out ice cold in the first quarter by having an 0-20 shooting run. The Los Angeles Clippers were red hot from three and took a 13 point lead into the half. The second half was very different as the Jazz came out read hot and ended up winning the game down the stretch 112-109. Donvan Mitchell was incredible in game one by scoring 45 points, 32 of which came in the second half. Despite the win, the Jazz pushed ATS, but their shooting it is expected to be much better in game two.
The Pick: Jazz -3 (-110)
The Why: Jazz Shooting
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the Jazz will not have a stretch tonight where they go 0-20 and score only two points. The Jazz shot 34% from three in game one which is well below their average of 39% in the postseason. It had nothing to do with the Clippers’ defense, the Jazz were just missing wide open looks. That was to be expected though after the layoff between round one and round two. In the second half, we saw the Jazz team we have seen all season. They shot at a much higher clip and Donovan Mitchell took the game over.
Donovan Mitchell (45) had more points than Kawhi Leonard (23) and Paul George (20) combined.

I think the way the Clippers are playing right now plays perfectly into the hands on the Jazz. The have gone very small, playoff Paul George is here and Kawhi Leonard can’t do it all. Paul George shot 23.5% from the field in game one. If he doesn’t have a good game then the Clippers won’t win, and there is no reason to believe that he will. Because the Clippers have gone so small, Donovan Mitchell was able to drive to the basketball without any resistance at the rim. That probably sounds familiar, because Luka Doncic was able to do the same thing.
The Jazz have a much deeper and solid team from top to bottom and the second half showed that in game one. All in all, we’re going to take the Jazz and lay the 3 points. The start in the first was probably expected, but we should get what we got in the second half tonight. I expect another massive performance from Donovan Mitchell in this one and for the Jazz to shoot much better for the entire game. Go with the Utah Jazz to take a 2-0 lead and cover.
Trends We’re Betting On
Jazz are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5
Jazz are 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10
Jazz are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 as a favorite
Jazz are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 following a SU win
Yesterday’s Pick: Nuggets/Suns over 222.5
Our last two picks of the day have shown how cruel sports betting is. We had the Jazz -3. They were up covering easily with less than a minute left, but we end up pushing. last night, the total finished at 221. All we need was just one basket. We’re three points away from winning our last two. It’s frustrating but luck will swing back to our side soon.
