The Houston Astros play host to the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night in Houston. Chris Bassitt will get the ball for the Oakland Athletics. He has a 9-2 record and a 3.04 ERA. Famber Valdez will start for the Houston Astros. He has a 5-1 record and a 2.18 ERA. The Astros come into this game swinging hot bats and that should lead to a win on Tuesday.
The Pick: Astros ML
The Why: Astros lineup
Both of these starting pitchers are having terrific seasons. Famber Valdez comes into this game not allowing more than three runs in a start all season. He has won vie out of his last six starts. In Bassitt’s lone starts against the Astros, he got hit hard. He allowed three earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched. That was all the way back on opening day and it was no fluke. The Astros’ bats were good then, and probably even better now.
This deep Astors lineup is led by Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and Yuli Gurriel. All three are hitting above .280 and above .870 in OPS. Jose Altuve leads the team in homers with 18. The Astros rank first in runs scored with 5.58 and in hits per game with 9.40. The Athletics are in the bottom half of the league in batting average and have struggled to score runs consistently over the last week.
We’re taking the Astros in this one. Valdez should be able to have another good start and the Astros bats should be able to get some runs on Bassitt again. We trust Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and Yuli Gurriel more than we trust any bat for the Athletics. Take the Astros.
Trends We’re Betting On
Astros are 4-1 SU last 5
Astros are 15-5 SU last 20
Athletics are 3-8 SU last 11 vs Astros
Athletics are 5-10 SU last 15
Saturday’s Pick: Dodgers ML ❌
A few thing led to this loss. The Dodgers didn’t start some of their best bats and they threw the ball all over the place at times that led to a couple runs. Whatever. Back today.
