This series between the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks has been a weird one. The road team has won every game and the pace of play has been tremendously slow. It has also been a series where it there star players for each team have been on full display. For the Dallas Mavericks it has been Luke Doncic who is solidifying himself as one of the most dominate players in the league. For the Clippers it has been Kawhi Leonard and Paul George who have carried the load for each team.

The Pick: Clippers -2.5 (-110)

The Why: Clippers’ Stars

It is very simple for the Clippers. This is a do or die spot. They did not play well down the stretch in game five but they did have a chance too win it in the final moments. Kawhi Leonard only scored 20 points in the loss which is way down from his average of 30 PPG this postseason. In the previous two games in Dallas, Leonard scored 36 and 29 points. Last game was the only time Kawhi didn’t look unstoppable, but I expect him to come out focused tonight and put his team on his back.

I also expect Paul George to continue to play well and for the Mavericks to continue to struggle guarding him. He is averaging 24.6 PPG this series and scored 29 and 20 the last two games played in Dallas. If Leonard and George are both on tonight, like I’m expecting them to be, it will be tough for the Mavericks to slow both of them down.

This series has been a weird one because the Clippers have shot much better in Dallas than they have Los Angeles. At home they have shot 46.6% from the field and in Dallas they have shot 52.9%. Also, since the Clippers are facing elimination, I expect a much better defensive performance against Luke Doncic. They won’t stop him but they can slow him down enough.

All in all, we’re going to back the trends that say the road team will continue to win. We’ll lay the small number with the Clippers and expect Leonard, George and company to continue to shoot will in Dallas.

Trends We’re Betting On

The road team is 5-0 SU this series

Clippers have covered 8 of the last 10 ATS in Dallas

Mavericks are 0-4 ATS playing on one day rest

Clippers are 4-1 ATS playing on one day rest

Yesterday’s Pick: Trail Blazers -5

Very frustrating night. The Trail Blazers were up 14 with 6:20 left in the third quarter and I was thinking we were sitting pretty. From there the Trail Blazers were outscored 51-26 and it killed our pick of the day. We’ll get it back.

AtoZ Pick Of The Day Record: 2-1
