Five-star outside linebacker Sav’ell Smalls is one of the nation’s most highly sought after 2020 recruits.
And he’s visiting the Tennessee Vols on Monday.
Good afternoon Knoxville 🧡🤝

Smalls, 6-foot-3/230 lbs from Burien, WA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 player in the state of Washington and the No. 3 outside linebacker in the nation.
The Vols obviously have a lot of competition for Smalls. The dynamic linebacker has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among many others. Basically every “major” school in the country has offered Smalls.
Tennessee, however, is holding a couple of aces in Smalls’ recruitment. I’m specifically talking about head coach Jeremy Pruitt and tight ends coach Brian Niedermeyer.
The Washington native recently told Rivals that Pruitt is “pretty much the guy when it comes to producing outside backers”. Smalls also said that Niedermeyer is “my guy”. He noted that he met both coaches when they were at Alabama.
Vol fans are well aware of Niedermeyer’s recruiting abilities. He was the main reason Tennessee landed four-star linebacker Henry To’oto’o in the 2019 signing class. The combination of Pruitt and Niedermeyer might be enough to sway Smalls to Rocky Top.
Of course, there’s a long way to go in Smalls’ recruitment. The elite recruit wants to take plenty of visits before he makes a decision.
But now that he’s been to Knoxville, the Vols are as big of a threat as anyone to land the talented linebacker.
