Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt has done a remarkable job during his first season as the head football coach on Rocky Top.
A year removed from the worst season in program history, Pruitt has the Volunteers on the brink of a bowl game appearance.
That’s an incredible feat when you consider the ridiculously tough schedule Tennessee faced this season. The Vols opened the season against a strong West Virginia team, before dealing with a stretch of SEC games that included Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Alabama.
A lot of folks, including myself, looked at that four-game stretch and felt Tennessee would go 0-4.
Pruitt, however, was able to lead his Volunteer squad to an upset win against a ranked Auburn team. It was the Vols’ first win against a SEC West team since 2010 when Tennessee beat Ole Miss in Derek Dooley’s first season with the program.
Another highlight of the 2018 season for UT was their upset win against Kentucky, who was ranked #11 at the time.
The wins against two ranked teams, plus the Vols’ continued progress on the field, has the future looking bright in Knoxville.
In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if Tennessee takes a major step forward next season.
Winning ten games isn’t out of the question.
And there are five reasons why I think that’s a very attainable goal for the Volunteers.
