2022 four-star running back Jaylon Glover is a player the new Tennessee Vols coaching staff would love to land.
Glover, 5-foot-9/190 lbs from Lakeland, FL (Lake Gibson), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 34 running back in the nation and the No. 59 overall recruit in the state of Florida.
Tennessee’s new staff was recruiting Glover hard at UCF, so it’s no surprise that the Vols are now pursuing the talented running back.
The Florida native is essentially a perfect fit in Josh Heupel’s offense. Glover is fast (he also runs track in high school), elusive, and he plays in an up-tempo spread offense in high school.
“I like to revolve my game around speed,” said Glover recently to VolQuest. “I consider myself an all-around back and I never want to have limitations on what I can do. I’m working consistently on blocking and catching the ball out of the backfield, but for me, elusiveness is an elite trait.”
Glover is the type of player that usually gives the Vols nightmares. Imagine a third-and-15 situation — the defense is feeling pretty good — and then a running back takes a screen pass for 20 yards to get the first down. It’s a completely deflating moment for a defense. Glover is the running back who could be that guy for Tennessee.
Glover told VolQuest that he hopes to commit by the summer. And the Vols are very much in the picture.
“I’m interested in Tennessee,” said Glover. “I’m already tight with the coaching staff and they already view me as a priority.”
Glover would be a perfect fit in UT’s offense. This is a match that makes too much sense not to happen.
