Sidney Jones

A severe injury is the worst thing that could happen to a NFL Draft prospect at the NFL Combine or his Pro Day.

That appears to have happened for Washington cornerback Sidney Jones on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

If it is an achilles, that will drastically change Jones’ draft chances. This would most likely mean a “redshirt year” for Jones this upcoming NFL season.

Jones had received a first round grade by most draft analysts and could be one of the top corners off the board along with Marshon Lattimore (Ohio State), Marlon Humphrey (Alabama), and the Florida duo of Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson.

The Titans number one position need is cornerback, even after the club signed Logan Ryan on the first day of Free Agency. Jones could have been play for Tennessee at No. 18 overall.

Updates on Jones’ status will be provided as they become available.

  1. Maybe I am just an SEC homer, but never been to impressed with PAC 12 talent or teams. So far the only good thing in the last decade or so to come out of the PAC 12 and actually make an impact in the pros is Mariota and that is based on whether or not he can stay healthy in the future.

    • That’s not even close to being correct… The Pac-12 has plenty of guys in the NFL making big impacts. All-Pro guys like Aaron Rodgers (Cal), Rob Gronkowski (Arizona), Andrew Luck (Stanford)… then DeSean Jackson & Keenan Allen (Cal) are GOOD WRs. Marcus Peters (KC/Wash) is one of the best young CBs in the league. Danny Shelton (CLE/Wash) is a beast def. lineman. Brandin Cooks went to Oregon State.
