SEC Media Days is always hosted in Hoover, Alabama, meaning the day the Crimson Tide shows up to the Hyatt Regency hotel is the craziest day of the week.
The hotel lobby is swarmed by Alabama faithful. Some fans arrived before sunrise for a chance to see their favorite coach, Nick Saban, and the three football players he brought with him.

At the end of media “carwash” of interviews, photos, TV and radio appearances they have to exit through the lobby with a sea of diehards lurking for a chance at an autograph. I found myself standing right between these fans and Bama’s star wide receiver Calvin Ridley. For less than two minutes, you could feel what it would be like to be an Alabama Football player at SEC Media Days.
Ridley signed programs, mini helmets, regular helmets, footballs, blown up pictures of himself and even an end zone pylon… Then he took a selfie. He was called “Mr. Ridley” “sir” and his nickname “CR3”.
